Born October 15th 1892 in Rockhausen in the Rhineland Palatinate in western Germany. Born a German citizen to a protestant family; his parents were Philipp and Henrietta. He was unmarried at the time of issue. He worked as a farmer, as was his father Philipp, who died in 1924. He underwent military inspection in April of 1937, the same date as the issue of his Wehrpass, at the military
